Book of Todd – Winner of the 48 Hour Film Festival!

Great news everyone! It’s been a while, but I’m happy to announce my latest film with SHRUG Productions (Book of Todd) just won a number of awards at the Best Of screening last night for the 48 Hour Film Festival in Baltimore! We took home Best Cinematography, Best Director, Best Acting – Ensemble and Best Film! With that, we’ll be moving onto Filmapalooza in Los Angeles next year to represent Baltimore. So proud of everyone who worked on this film with me and I can’t wait to see where else we go from here!

The Reviews Are In – Wait Until Dark Is A Hit!

One week down, 3 to go! Thank you to everyone who joined us last week for our first performances of Wait Until Dark. We’ve gotten a lot of great audiences and a lot of great feedback, including two glowing reviews from MD Theatre Guide and DC Metro Theater Arts:

“Of the three men, Adkins makes the most impact. He seems to be channeling his Alan Arkin (who played the role in the movie). He is witty, urbane, intelligent, and chillingly cold. He never deviates from his goal. Quinn and Chaney work very well together as two small-time con men way in over their heads. You almost feel sorry for them going up against Roat and then Susy.” – MD Theatre Guide

“Any good thriller needs a villain, and Harry Roat (Adam R. Adkins) is as villainous as they come. Roat is a smorgasbord of a character, being by turns charming, clever, humorous, devious, polite, calculating, and psychopathically homicidal. Roat wants to be the center of his universe, manipulating others at will, and Adkins makes him as gleefully evil as any Bond villain, down to some Snidely Whiplash-style chortles.” – DC Metro Theater Arts

I’m very proud of this show and the work myself and the rest of my cast and crew have done. Tickets are still on sale for our next 3 weeks of shows, but make sure to get your tickets soon because they’re moving fast! http://thelittletheatre.com/tickets/

Wait Until Dark Opens Tonight at LTA!

Today’s the day! It’s Opening Night for Wait Until Dark at the Little Theatre of Alexandria! After a long and intense rehearsal process, and an even longer acting drought thanks to a certain global bastard, I’m super excited to bring Roat to life on stage for the next 4 weeks! I really hope you can join us sometime in the run. Tickets can be purchased here. But in the meantime, please enjoy some promotional pictures to whet your appetite.

Proof of vaccination or recent negative Covid test is required for admittance and the audience is asked to stay masked throughout the performance and while inside the theater. Hope to see everyone there!

2021 – We’re back with a new show!

Hello all! Long time no see! It’s been a minute since there’s been an update due to a certain world-changing pandemic that we’re still in the middle of. But as we slowly returning to a new state of normal, I’m happy to announce that I’ve been cast in a new show! Opening October 16th, you’ll be able to see me back on stage as Roat in Wait Until Dark with the Little Theatre of Alexandria! I’m very excited to be joining this production and bring this fascinating character to life. I’ll be posting ticket information in the coming weeks, but until then stay safe, get vaxxed and wear your masks!

Also, site wise, I’ve added an updated Resume and some new videos for you to enjoy. Click here to see my recent Hounds Town USA commercial shoots and thanks for dropping by!

New Film – How To Meet A Girl!

Hello all. Crazy times huh? As many theater people have experienced in the past few weeks, the Coronavirus situation took a toll last month on our opening of Puffs. While we were lucky enough to get one weekend, we sadly had to cancel our last several shows. While it’s of course disheartening that I didn’t get a full run with our new cast, I count myself very lucky to have not only gotten the show in front of some great crowds, but that I got to take the journey with so many amazing people at Wolf Pack Theatre Company.

However, bad news leaves room for good: I have a new film to share with you! Brought to you from the good people at Shrug Productions, please enjoy the full film How To Meet A Girl. This film was made for the World Film Challenge 2020 and we made it to a finalist screening, so I can’t say how proud I am of it and the crew involved. You can view it both here and on my videos page.

Enjoy!

The Return of Puffs – Third or Nothing!

Hello friends! I’m super excited to announce that I will be returning as Wayne Hopkins in a new production of Puffs with Wolf Pack Theatre Company! I had the honor to play Wayne in the Washington DC debut of Puffs earlier this year and he’s one of my favorite characters I’ve had the privilege to inhabit. Make sure to keep posted to the site for performance dates and ticket information.

Wands up!!!

A Christmas Carol – Pay What You Can

As Christmas comes just around the corner, our friends at Wolf Pack Theatre Company want you to join us for the second and final weekend of A Christmas Carol. Dates are on my Calendar and you can buy tickets for our other performance dates here.

I’ve also added a few extra production photos in my Media center here. Enjoy, and hopefully I’ll see you at the show!

New Show: A Christmas Carol!

Hi friends. I’m happy to announce I’ll be celebrating the holiday season this year with a new show! I’ll be joining Wolf Pack Theatre Company for the first time playing Young Scrooge in their production of A Christmas Carol! The show is perfect for all ages and audiences and will hopefully bring you a bit of Christmas cheer. We open on December 13th and run for two weekends with double shows on Saturday. Tickets can be purchased here. Hope to see you all there, and Happy Holidays to all!

Long Time No See

Hello all. It’s been a long time since I’ve posted an update on my site here. While I have been adding a few things here and there on the site, I didn’t seem necessary to add a whole new update. But in the time since my goodbye to Bobby Heenan, I’ve been doing some film work with Shrug Productions (Extra Shiny and Buzz now available in my videos section) and was fortunate enough to be featured in the Washington DC regional premiere of Puffs with Landless Theatre Company. I’ve included new pictures, videos, reviews and other goodies that you can find in the links in the top bar. More fun stuff is in the works, so hopefully I can post more news as it comes.

Don’t worry, I’ll make sure we don’t wait such a long stretch before we see each other again.

Pictures and Review for Silver Spring Stage One Act Festival

Hello friends. First of all, I want to give a huge thanks to everyone who made it out to Silver Spring for our One Act Festival last weekend. We had a fantastic turn out and some very energetic crowds. Always proud and happy to perform for my friends and family. To close out the great weekend, I’m happy to share some pictures and a review from the show. First of all, here’s a few pictures that were taken by the talented Harvey Levine:

You can check out the rest of the pictures from Six Seven Three Twenty and Alternate Theory, along with pictures from all of my other shows, here on my Photos page.

I’m also proud to share a nice write-up we got from DC Metro Theater Arts for our weekend. Here’s an excerpt:

“Adam Adkins plays Mike O’Sullivan, the assistant to it seems everyone and is probably the most likable character. Adkins hits the mark by straddling the fence between Gary and Doug and the Coach.”

Not a bad little nod. Feel free to read the full review here or view the rest of my press clippings here on my site. Also, the One Act Festival continues for the next two weekends. Not with me, sadly, but with many of my friends and fellow craftspeople. Please make sure to show your love and support by planning your trip to the festival here.

So that’s all for now, my dear friends. But make sure to come back and visit soon, as art never stops coming.

Silver Spring Stage One Act Festival Opens Tonight With A Pay What You Can Performance

Hello all.

Tonight is the night: The opening of my two one act plays for the Silver Spring Stage One Act Festival. For tonight’s premiere, we’re offering a Pay What You Can performance. So come on by at 8 with whatever cash you have in your pockets and see my glorious return to the stage. In Six Seven Three Twenty, we go into the draft room of a struggling football team who are in the middle of an internal power struggle. Then, in Alternate Theory, we present a new darkly hilarious theory on the assassination of JFK. Both of these shows are a lot of fun and I’m excited to get them in front of an audience. For ticket details on the remaining weekend, please click here.

Hope to see you all there!

New Press & Tickets On Sale for Silver Spring One Act Festival

Hey gang. Just wanted to drop by and let you know about a new piece of press that my friend and journalist Peter Rouleau wrote for the upcoming Silver Spring Stage One Act Festival for the Sentinel. Here’s a snippet of my interview portion:

“‘After taking a break from acting for a few years, the Silver Spring One Act festival is a great reminder as to why I love this art so much,’ said local actor Adam R. Adkins, who appeared in the 2013 one-act festival. He has performed in and directed other productions for the company. ‘They’re a great group of people to work with and bringing new, original works to life is incredibly rewarding,’ Adkins said.”

If you’re interested in reading the full clip, please follow this link. And you can see the rest of my press clipping by going to my Press page.

In addition to the lovely write up, you can now purchase tickets for the festival by following this link. The tickets are available for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, but we also have a pay-what-you-can on Thursday night. We also have a Facebook event page here if that tickles your fancy.

Hope to see everyone there!

Welcome Home – Full Film Available Online!

Hi gang. First of all, huge thanks to everyone who came out to see Welcome Home and the rest of the films for the 48 Hour Film Project. We had a great turnout and I saw a lot of familiar faces there giving their support to all of the fantastic entries in the festival. Time will tell if we snag any well-deserved awards, but until then, I’m happy to announce that Shrug Productions has posted the full film on Youtube! In case you weren’t able to make it to the premiere on Saturday, please enjoy the video below. I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.

The video, along with the behind the scenes featurette, have been added to my Videos page along with screen grabs to my Pictures page.

I’ll be back later this week with some more updates, but until then, enjoy the film!
