The Margins In 2015 & New Pictures From Nightfall and Saving Private Poo!
Hello friends. Another year has ended and I couldn’t have possibly been busier. Throughout 2014 I performed in 5 plays (Morning, Miranda, The Narrow Gate, Saving Private Poo, Nightfall and A Klingon Christmas Carol) and directed 4 more (God of Carnage, The Scottish Detective, Cosmetic Consciousness and Gallery). I got to do some more background work for Veep, filmed some industrials with FJC Media, shot a short film and joined Molotov Theatre Group as their Special Events Coordinator and a company member. All in all, it’s been an excitingly exhausting year and I’m proud of everything and everyone I’ve gotten to work with. However, as the year closes, we look forward to 2015 with a brand new project. The Margins will be debuting with Molotov in April. The story centers around a group of psychics who are brought together to create a spirit, similar to the famous Phillip Experiment in the 1970s. However, once they bring their powers together, they discover that their creation is stronger than even they can imagine. It’s a creepy script, likely made all the creepier by us at Molotov. Nightfall With Edgar Allen Poe is Helen Hayes Recommended & More!
Great news for us Molotov Theatre Group people: Nightfall with Edgar Allen Poe has been Helen Hayes recommended! That’s pretty awesome news. Almost as awesome as all of the great press and audience feedback we’ve received. Here’s a snippet of our review from DC Theater Metro Arts:

Finally, I’m happy to announce that I got the chance again yesterday to shoot with HBO’s Veep. I always have a great time whenever I get the chance to shoot for that show and yesterday was no different. There’s some big surprises that I can’t talk about in Season 4 that I can’t wait for people to see. The Scottish Detective Closes & New Videos and Resumes Are Posted!
Another closing, another show. Last night marked the closing night of the 2014 Hope Operas and specifically my show The Scottish Detective. A huge thanks to Amy Baska, Steve Custer, Devin Gaither, Bethanie Harmon, Eric Swartz and my entire cast for all of their dedication and hard work. The Hope Operas is always a fun time and I’m glad that I could be involved again this year with such a great cause.
Along with those closing statements, I’m happy to announce some new additions to the website! Firstly, I’ve added a couple of videos over at my Videos page. Included is a scene from a recent industrial film I shot with FJC Media and a documentary I shot and edited about my father’s 5 day hitchhike across the country back in 1979. God of Carnage Closes, The Scottish Detective Runs Through October & a Trailer and Tickets For Nightfall!
Things continue to roll along, friends. First of all, let’s start with the past. Two weeks ago was the closing night performance of God of Carnage. The entire process was an absolute pleasure and I couldn’t have asked for a better cast and crew through the process. Much gratitude goes to Silver Spring Stage for giving me the opportunity to strut my stuff to very receptive audiences. I can’t wait for my next project with them, whatever it may be.
Next, let’s move on to the present. The Scottish Detective is currently running every Monday night for The Hope Operas. We placed 4th in the first weekend and 3rd in the second. Therefore, logically, we should have the top spot by the final weekend. Come see five shows (specifically The Scottish Detectve of course) all fight for your votes, with a brand new episode tonight. Finally, let’s look to the future. Nightfall with Edgar Allen Poe is currently in rehearsals. We’re bringing four of Poe’s most famous tales of the macabre to the stage for you starting November 6th, and tickets are already selling out quickly. That’s not just promotion, either. Another God of Carnage Review, Gallery Performs This Sunday & My Return To The Stage!
The fun never stops, ladies and gentlemen. This weekend God of Carnage returns to brand new audiences. We’ve been rehearsing this spirited staged reading with a fantastic cast all week, and I think we’re going to be showing you guys something special. And finally, I’m happy to say that I will be returning to the stage this November with Molotov Theatre Group’s production of Nightfall. The show is a collection of four Edgar Allen Poe stories and I’ll be involved in all of them, specifically playing Roderick Usher in Fall of the House of Usher. I’m very excited to get back on the other side of the lights, especially following in the footsteps of a personal idol of mine Vincent Price. God of Carnage Opens With A Fantastic Review and Pictures & Gallery Launches This Sunday!
After all of the work that has gone into directing my first full show in the DC Metro Area, I am proud to say that God of Carnage is finally open! We had a great opening week, with well over half the house pre-sold before Saturday’s performance. I could not be prouder of my cast and crew. This really is a show that I’m incredibly proud of. God of Carnage Opens This Weekend With A PWYC Preview, Plus Press For Upcoming Projects!
The big day is almost here: God of Carnage opens this weekend! It has been such a fantastic process getting this show moving from concept to execution and I can’t wait to share it with all of you. Along with the upcoming slated shows, of which you can get your tickets here, we have a Pay-What-You-Can Preview on Thursday for those of you that are a bit more cash conscious. Either way, I hope that you’ll come out to see what we’ve created. I am incredibly proud of this show and am very excited about getting it in front of an audience.
Along with that notice, I have a couple of Press notifications that have been buzzing through. The first is a preview piece for God of Carnage from DC Theater Metro Arts, which you can read here. The next is a preview piece for the upcoming Gallery staged reading with Molotov Theatre Group written at Broadway World, which you can read here. I have quotes in both and they should get you hyped up for my next to projects. They’re also both accessible on my Press page, along with all of my other clippings from shows past. God of Carnage Tickets Go On Sale & More!
It’s official: tickets for God of Carnage at Silver Spring Stage are now on sale! Rehearsals for this project have been going amazing and I can’t wait to get this in front of an audience. The show is a dark comedy, with focus on the dark. So actually getting people to see and react to it will be an absolute treat. To reserve your tickets, please visit the link here. Along with the dates listed, we will be having a Pay What You Can preview the night before our opening on September 18th. So if you want to see what we’ve put together but money is a bit tight, we have your hook up. Make sure to reserve your tickets and mark your calendars.
There are other projects that are on the horizon of course, including a Staged Reading with Molotov Theater of Gallery, featuring five Batman villains during an Arkham Asylum breakout. That will be performed September 28th and the tickets are free. Also, the Hope Operas is just around the corner. The Scottish Detective is shaping up to be a very funny show, so hopefully you will be joining us every Monday in October to check us out. Details for both of those can be found at my Calendar.

So Many Projects, So Little Time
Hello all. It’s been a little while since I’ve been able to post an update for the site. The irony is that it’s because of how incredibly busy I’ve been lately. First of all, God of Carnage rehearsals are in full swing. I have a fantastic cast that I’m working with that is 100% on the ball. Things are shaping up very nicely at the moment and I’m already excited to get this production in front of an audience. We open on September 19th, with a Pay What You Can preview on the 18th. Make sure to check out my Calendar to reserve your dates.
But before God of Carnage goes up, I’m happy to announce that I will be directing a staged reading that goes live this Labor Day. The play is called Cosmetic Consciousness and is written by my good friend Kristy Simmons. We will be performing it as part of the Page to Stage Festival at the Kennedy Center on September 1st from 3-5. Again, more details are at my Calendar.
But that’s not the only staged reading coming up. On September 28th I will be directing a staged reading for Molotov Theatre Group called Gallery. This is a pretty awesome play involving Batman’s Rogues Gallery during an Arkham breakout. The Joker, Two Face, The Riddler, The Scarecrow and Poison Ivy are all involved and verbally joust with each other while trying to solve the mystery as to who orchestrated the breakout. We’re going to be doing this up right in connection with Phantom Comics in DC, so make sure you don’t miss this one-night-only showing. Details are once again at my Calendar.
Finally, I’m happy to say that tonight is audition night for the Hope Operas. I will be directing a new play for 1Up Theatre called The Scottish Detective and we will be performing it all throughout the month of October. For pity’s sake, just check out my Calendar already.

One more bit of news: I happy to say we have an audition date for the Hope Operas! We will be auditioning on Monday August 25th at the Comedy Spot in Arlington, VA from 7-10, with holding possible callbacks on the 26th. Saving Private Poo Opens To A “Best Of The Fringe” Review!
This year’s Capital Fringe is up and running, and Saving Private Poo celebrated with shows on both Saturday and Sunday! And I’m happy to announce that we have the first of several reviews out, which gives us 5 stars and names our show one of the “Best Of The Fringe”! While I’m certainly flattered, I can’t say I’m shocked. This is a very fun play that hits several different emotional levels. We only have 4 performances left, including one tonight at 10pm, so make sure you don’t miss them! Saving Private Poo Opens Saturday, Press Release For God Of Carnage & A New Directing Project
The clock is ticking. Only 2 more days until we re-release Saving Private Poo to the world. We’ve all been working our nailed-on tails off, and we’re chomping at the bit to get this in front of an audience. Our official opening is Saturday at 12:30 at the Fort Fringe Redrum. We’ve already had some very strong pre-sell numbers, so you might want to reserve your tickets here to make sure you don’t miss out on this awesome event. Finally, I have a bit of early news. As soon as God of Carnage closes, I’m happy to announce that I’ll be jumping right back into the director role for my third involvement with The Hope Operas! For those of you who aren’t aware, The Hope Operas is a yearly theater festival consisting of weekly installments of a handful of different plays. Each play is associated with a different charity, and whichever play wins the weekly audience voting, that play gets the most money for their respective charity. It’s an awesome way for the theater community to give back to those who need it, and it’s also an awesome way to try out some things that you can’t at a different setting. Nearly three years ago, we first mounted R.U.X. at Hope Operas. We had such a fantastic run, we parlayed that into a Fringe mount and ended up winning Best Comedy that year. So awesome things can happen with The Hope Operas, and I owe them a tremendous debt of gratitude.
With that, I’m glad to be back with them again. This time I will be directing a new play written by my Saving Private Poo compatriots Steve Custer and Devin Gaither. Details are still forthcoming, so make sure to keep yourself posted on this site for more info. Until then, feel free to check out The Hope Opera’s website for more details on the festival.

Audition and Performance Dates for God of Carnage, Tickets on Sale for Saving Private Poo and more Narrow Gate Pictures!
A lot of really good stuff today. Firstly, Silver Spring Stage and I have been able to nail down audition and performance dates for God of Carnage. We will be auditioning on July 19th and 20th with callbacks on the 21st. I realize that this is smack in the middle of the Fringe festival, so if you want to audition but simply cannot make the dates I will be seeing a very limited number of people before callbacks on Monday (which is dark for Fringe). There will be more details on this, as I’m currently working on drafting a press release, but this is just an early heads up. Also, God of Carnage will be debuting at Silver Spring Stage on September 19th and will run until October 11th. All of these dates are on my Calendar page here, so make sure to mark them now with plenty of time to plan!
Speaking of Fringe, today is the day that tickets go on sale! Saving Private Poo is hot and ready for your ticket buying pleasure. July 12th is the official premiere date! Rehearsals are off and running and they’ve been a lot of fun so far. This is a weirdly funny, ridiculous show that I can’t wait to get in front of a Fringe audience. Directing for Silver Spring Stage, Joining Molotov Theatre Group & More Performances!
So I was going to hold off on making these two official announcements, but fudge it: I’m too excited. First of all, I’m happy to announce that I’m finally getting a chance to direct a full show in the DC area! Come mid-late September I will be directing God of Carnage for Silver Spring Stage! I’ve worked with Silver Spring Stage on a few different projects in the past and have always been charmed by their level of professionalism. And now I’m even more charmed by this great opportunity they’ve given me. Auditions will be held at the end of the month, so stay tuned for updates. I hope to see all of you amazing actors there to give me plenty of casting options.
And just as awesome as getting a directing chance, I’m happy to announce that I will soon be joining Molotov Theatre Group as a company member! For those that don’t know, Molotov is a professional theater company in DC that puts on some really great shows. I had the opportunity to see their production of Extremities last Fall and was blown away by how good it was. This is a really cool opportunity to expand my horizons with a company I believe in, and I’m very grateful for the chance. The Narrow Gate Opens With Pictures & More!
I’m happy to say we had a fantastic opening night for the Source 10 Minute Play Festival last Friday. The audience was plentiful and energetic, and each of the one act plays really brought the thunder. We should have some reviews coming in, which I’m sure I’ll be pimping out on Facebook and Twitter. Today is the day: Opening night for The Narrow Gate for the Source Festival! I’m very excited to finally get this show in front of an audience, and I do hope that you’ll join us to see it along with several other short, original plays in a night of theater fun. However, with an opening night and a steady stream of offers for future projects, I’m afraid Saturday Morning Sludge will have to be postponed until next week. I know, you’re heart broken. Firstly, I’ve added some pictures from last year’s Fringe show R.U.R. I realized that there was a gap missing in my media, and I’m happy to have finally filled it. Morning, Miranda Pictures, Tickets for Source Festival On Sale & More!
First of all, thank you all so much for the fantastic response I received for my latest blog post. The first few days that it went live, it absolutely blew up. And in the two and a half years I’ve had this website, that single post has been responsible for over 15% of all site traffic. That is amazing and special thanks to anyone who shared it across the web. In case you did miss it, however, it’s still live and going strong. Make sure to give it a read here and join in the discussion. This week I will be going back to the goofy side of life and doing a new Saturday Morning Sludge, but I’m sure there will be another social issue that pisses me off sooner than later.
Next, onto business with a quick site update. I just received some promo pictures for Morning, Miranda and have added them to my picture gallery here. Since the number of pictures was small, I also added a close up shot I used for promotion on Facebook. Enjoy the nightmares.
Just a quick notice that rehearsals for Saving Private Poo start beginning next week! This play is just weird enough to be a huge hit at the Fringe, and I look forward to playing a war time Eeyore. Misogyny, #YesAllWomen and Why Men Are So Defensive About It
So along with talking about silly things on my new blog, I want to use it as a forum to occasionally express my opinion about some serious topics. And after the USCB shooting last weekend, there has been a lot of talk about misogyny in our culture. I don’t know if my opinion is original or even valid, but where else am I going to bitch about it? New Site Feature – The Peanut Gallery!
Hello all.
Today I’m introducing a new feature to the site. Often times different thoughts and observations tend to run through my head. Rather than keep them to myself and let them slowly destroy me from the inside, I’m happy to announce a new blog section called The Peanut Gallery. It’s going to be a general blog with musings of the world. However, to start off with a bang, I’m posting a hopefully soon-to-be long running segment called Saturday Morning Sludge. With it, I’ll be taking a look at some of the worst Saturday Morning cartoon shows from the 80s. We had many good quality cartoons from that decade, and oh so many shit ones. So check out my first one for Hulk Hogan’s Rock ‘n’ Wrestling. How can a rock and wrestling cartoon have very little of either, but still include bagpipes and zombies? You’ll just have to see for yourself.
I hope everyone enjoys it. If they do, I’ll attempt to keep this as a bi-weekly segment along with any other rants, raves, gibes and gambols that I feel like venting about.

Plenty of happenings and goings on in the last few weeks. Last weekend I had the opportunity to go up to Bel Air for BOOM! Theatre’s 2014 Brave New Works Festival and perform in a new One-Act show called The Dog Therapist, written and directed by the talented Kristy Simmons. I had a great time bringing a new work an audience with such a great cast. And I have good news. If you missed it, you can catch it on the Youtubes! Last weekend proved even busier as I also got a chance to shoot with DC Dogs for their 48 Hour Film Project. While I’ll hopefully be able to post it on this site sometime in the future, you can see it with the rest of us at the premiere this Thursday at the AFI Silver Theater in Silver Spring. As a long time film geek, the opportunity to see my oversized head on an AFI screen is a pretty exciting prospect. And lastly, I finally have all the dates and times for my upcoming shows. Firstly I will be in the Source’s One-Act Play Festival in a piece called The Narrow Gate. We had our first read through last week and I can’t think of another first reading/rehearsal where so much progress was made. This is going to be a fantastic piece, and I hope all of you can come out to see it. Once that closes, I’ll be just about ready for my DC Summer Fringe show Saving Private Poo. Morning, Miranda Closes & Saving Private Pooh Is Announced!
Well, after several months of rehearsals and 4 weeks of shows, Morning, Miranda finally closed on Saturday. While I’m proud of our run and I’m ready to move on to my next project, I’m sad to leave such an amazing group of artists. From our first rehearsal in January to our strike of the set last Sunday, rarely have I had such a fantastic time with a rag-tag group of theater professionals. I wish my cast and crew nothing but the best, and hopefully we’ll get to work together again very soon.
But as one door closes, another opens. I’m happy to announce my project for this year’s DC Summer Fringe Festival: Saving Private Pooh! Originally performed as part of Landless Theater’s Mashup Festival last year, this fun piece is a combination of Winnie the Pooh and World War II films. And rather than playing a nameless Nazi who gets the wrong end of Pooh’s claws like last year, this time I’ll be stepping in as Eeyore! So if you’ve ever wanted to see me get nailed in the butt, here’s your chance. Dates have been announced, and they’re on my Calendar page here. Make sure to check back soon with Ticket information and fun updates.
Also, as I’ve mentioned before, I have a few different festivals coming up. The first is BOOM! Theater’s Brave New Works Festival, which will be premiering on May 4th. Tickets are available here. Also, I’ll be performing in my very first Source Festival piece in June! Performance dates are TBA, but you can read up on the festival at their site here.

My Appearance On Veep!
Why yes, that is me appearing on Veep last night. As you can tell, Julia and I are best friends and occasional lovers. Or, at least, we occupied the same space for a few hours.
