A Quick Press Notice For The Narrow Gate!
Just a quick little note today. We had some press come in for the Source Festival’s Mortality 10 Minute plays from DC Metro Theater Arts and they said some nice things about Valeka and I and the show in general:
“The six short pieces in Mortality make you think about not only mortality and the fragility of life, but the lives of those who are left behind after we die. If you are looking for a thought provoking, emotional, sometimes humorous night out, this is definitely the show to go see!”

Audition and Performance Dates for God of Carnage, Tickets on Sale for Saving Private Poo and more Narrow Gate Pictures!
A lot of really good stuff today. Firstly, Silver Spring Stage and I have been able to nail down audition and performance dates for God of Carnage. We will be auditioning on July 19th and 20th with callbacks on the 21st. I realize that this is smack in the middle of the Fringe festival, so if you want to audition but simply cannot make the dates I will be seeing a very limited number of people before callbacks on Monday (which is dark for Fringe). There will be more details on this, as I’m currently working on drafting a press release, but this is just an early heads up. Also, God of Carnage will be debuting at Silver Spring Stage on September 19th and will run until October 11th. All of these dates are on my Calendar page here, so make sure to mark them now with plenty of time to plan!
Speaking of Fringe, today is the day that tickets go on sale! Saving Private Poo is hot and ready for your ticket buying pleasure. July 12th is the official premiere date! Rehearsals are off and running and they’ve been a lot of fun so far. This is a weirdly funny, ridiculous show that I can’t wait to get in front of a Fringe audience. Look at that face. That’s the face of someone who doesn’t want you to miss his last two performances. The Narrow Gate returns Sunday, June 22nd at 4pm and gives its final performance on Friday, June 27th at 6pm. Directing for Silver Spring Stage, Joining Molotov Theatre Group & More Performances!
So I was going to hold off on making these two official announcements, but fudge it: I’m too excited. First of all, I’m happy to announce that I’m finally getting a chance to direct a full show in the DC area! Come mid-late September I will be directing God of Carnage for Silver Spring Stage! I’ve worked with Silver Spring Stage on a few different projects in the past and have always been charmed by their level of professionalism. And now I’m even more charmed by this great opportunity they’ve given me. Auditions will be held at the end of the month, so stay tuned for updates. I hope to see all of you amazing actors there to give me plenty of casting options.
And just as awesome as getting a directing chance, I’m happy to announce that I will soon be joining Molotov Theatre Group as a company member! For those that don’t know, Molotov is a professional theater company in DC that puts on some really great shows. I had the opportunity to see their production of Extremities last Fall and was blown away by how good it was. This is a really cool opportunity to expand my horizons with a company I believe in, and I’m very grateful for the chance. The Narrow Gate Opens With Pictures & More!
I’m happy to say we had a fantastic opening night for the Source 10 Minute Play Festival last Friday. The audience was plentiful and energetic, and each of the one act plays really brought the thunder. We should have some reviews coming in, which I’m sure I’ll be pimping out on Facebook and Twitter. But in the meantime, we have a couple of sneak-peek photos!

Opening Night for The Narrow Gate, R.U.R. Pictures & More!
Today is the day: Opening night for The Narrow Gate for the Source Festival! I’m very excited to finally get this show in front of an audience, and I do hope that you’ll join us to see it along with several other short, original plays in a night of theater fun. However, with an opening night and a steady stream of offers for future projects, I’m afraid Saturday Morning Sludge will have to be postponed until next week. I know, you’re heart broken. But I’ve been torturing myself with some real dreck and I hope everyone will enjoy the final product. In the meantime, though, I have a few site updates. Firstly, I’ve added some pictures from last year’s Fringe show R.U.R. I realized that there was a gap missing in my media, and I’m happy to have finally filled it. Secondly, I’ve added a new page featuring a full resumé of everything I’ve worked on in my career. The printable resumé is still available, but this will serve as a nice, fuller history. Morning, Miranda Pictures, Tickets for Source Festival On Sale & More!
First of all, thank you all so much for the fantastic response I received for my latest blog post. The first few days that it went live, it absolutely blew up. And in the two and a half years I’ve had this website, that single post has been responsible for over 15% of all site traffic. That is amazing and special thanks to anyone who shared it across the web. In case you did miss it, however, it’s still live and going strong. Make sure to give it a read here and join in the discussion. This week I will be going back to the goofy side of life and doing a new Saturday Morning Sludge, but I’m sure there will be another social issue that pisses me off sooner than later.
Next, onto business with a quick site update. I just received some promo pictures for Morning, Miranda and have added them to my picture gallery here. Since the number of pictures was small, I also added a close up shot I used for promotion on Facebook. Enjoy the nightmares.
Just a quick notice that rehearsals for Saving Private Poo start beginning next week! This play is just weird enough to be a huge hit at the Fringe, and I look forward to playing a war time Eeyore. And finally, tickets for The Source Festival have officially gone on sale! The piece I am involved with is called The Narrow Gate and opens this Friday. I am very proud of it and hopefully you get the chance to come out and see it. I’m starring opposite Valeka J. Holt and we’re directed by Angela Pirko, and rarely have I completely gelled with an actor and a director from Day 1 as I have with these ladies. New Site Feature – The Peanut Gallery!
Hello all.
Today I’m introducing a new feature to the site. Often times different thoughts and observations tend to run through my head. Rather than keep them to myself and let them slowly destroy me from the inside, I’m happy to announce a new blog section called The Peanut Gallery. It’s going to be a general blog with musings of the world. However, to start off with a bang, I’m posting a hopefully soon-to-be long running segment called Saturday Morning Sludge. With it, I’ll be taking a look at some of the worst Saturday Morning cartoon shows from the 80s. We had many good quality cartoons from that decade, and oh so many shit ones. So check out my first one for Hulk Hogan’s Rock ‘n’ Wrestling. How can a rock and wrestling cartoon have very little of either, but still include bagpipes and zombies? You’ll just have to see for yourself.
I hope everyone enjoys it. If they do, I’ll attempt to keep this as a bi-weekly segment along with any other rants, raves, gibes and gambols that I feel like venting about.

Video for The Dog Therapist, Shooting With DC Dogs, Plus Dates & Times For Source & Fringe!
Plenty of happenings and goings on in the last few weeks. Last weekend I had the opportunity to go up to Bel Air for BOOM! Theatre’s 2014 Brave New Works Festival and perform in a new One-Act show called The Dog Therapist, written and directed by the talented Kristy Simmons. I had a great time bringing a new work an audience with such a great cast. And I have good news. If you missed it, you can catch it on the Youtubes! Just jump over to my Videos page and check it out, along with a newly-discovered trailer for an indy film I did years ago called The Portrait and a few other clips.
Last weekend proved even busier as I also got a chance to shoot with DC Dogs for their 48 Hour Film Project. While I’ll hopefully be able to post it on this site sometime in the future, you can see it with the rest of us at the premiere this Thursday at the AFI Silver Theater in Silver Spring. As a long time film geek, the opportunity to see my oversized head on an AFI screen is a pretty exciting prospect. And you’re welcome to join in my excitement by buying your tickets to the screening here.
And lastly, I finally have all the dates and times for my upcoming shows. Firstly I will be in the Source’s One-Act Play Festival in a piece called The Narrow Gate. We had our first read through last week and I can’t think of another first reading/rehearsal where so much progress was made. This is going to be a fantastic piece, and I hope all of you can come out to see it. Once that closes, I’ll be just about ready for my DC Summer Fringe show Saving Private Poo. Morning, Miranda Closes & Saving Private Pooh Is Announced!
Well, after several months of rehearsals and 4 weeks of shows, Morning, Miranda finally closed on Saturday. While I’m proud of our run and I’m ready to move on to my next project, I’m sad to leave such an amazing group of artists. From our first rehearsal in January to our strike of the set last Sunday, rarely have I had such a fantastic time with a rag-tag group of theater professionals. I wish my cast and crew nothing but the best, and hopefully we’ll get to work together again very soon.
But as one door closes, another opens. I’m happy to announce my project for this year’s DC Summer Fringe Festival: Saving Private Pooh! Originally performed as part of Landless Theater’s Mashup Festival last year, this fun piece is a combination of Winnie the Pooh and World War II films. And rather than playing a nameless Nazi who gets the wrong end of Pooh’s claws like last year, this time I’ll be stepping in as Eeyore! So if you’ve ever wanted to see me get nailed in the butt, here’s your chance. Dates have been announced, and they’re on my Calendar page here. Make sure to check back soon with Ticket information and fun updates.
Also, as I’ve mentioned before, I have a few different festivals coming up. The first is BOOM! Theater’s Brave New Works Festival, which will be premiering on May 4th. Tickets are available here. Source Festival, BOOM! Festival & More!
Just a few quick updates notes. Firstly, of course, Morning, Miranda is still in full swing. Tomorrow night kicks off our third weekend and I’m excited to get it back in front of an audience. I will never cease to shill this show I’m very proud of, so you can get your tickets here or read all the nice things people have said about us on my Press page here.
In the meantime, I have a few notes for upcoming theater projects in the works! First of all, at the start of May I will be involved with the BOOM! Brave New Works Theater Festival. I’ll be performing a charming new piece written by my good friend Kristy Simmons. It’s a one-night performance, so don’t miss your chance to see it! Please visit BOOM! Following that performance, I’m proud to announce that I will be participating for the first time in the Source Festival here in DC. Another week, another handful of performances for Morning, Miranda. Big thanks for everyone who came out this weekend to see us. The crowds so far have been very energetic and we’ve been getting some fantastic feedback. Part of that feedback has come by way of some great new press clippings, both of which I’m featured in. The first is in MD Theatre Guide, where I get a mention in the review. The second is from The Sentinel, in which I was interviewed on my thoughts on the show. Also, MD Theatre Guide listed us in their Top 5 Shows To Seek The Week! You can check them out, along with DC Metro Theater Arts’s review, at my Press page here. We only have 2 more weeks of shows. 1000 Views, New Show Pictures & A Veep Teaser
Since I decided to launch this little corner of the web for myself a few years ago, I’m happy to say I’ve finally hit a first milestone. Today I have passed over 1000 views! While I’m not sure why I’ve gotten hits from Bahrain, Peru and the Russian Federation, why ask why? Welcome, my international brothers and sisters! In order to celebrate, I’m happy to say that I’ve finally added pictures from last Fall’s production of Chupy & The Science Twins, which you can view here. So if you’ve ever fantasized about what I would look like in a mummy costume, your dreams have finally come true.

And finally, HBO just gave us a video teaser on the 3rd season on Veep. I actually started watching the series last week, and I’m proud to say that it’s a pretty funny and witty show. It’s nice to know that I’m looking forward to the the 3rd season premiere for a reason other than seeing my handsome face. Still no luck on an upcoming episode synopsis, but here’s a little something to keep us happy for another 52 days.
Website Updates & Veep Season 3 Date
2 posts in not only a month, but a week? WHAT MADNESS IS THIS?!?!
Just wanted to pop in and let everyone know a few bits of information. First of all, I’ve made a few website tweaks. I’ve gussied up the Important Links page with some graphics, which can be viewed here. Consider it a love letter to all of the companies I’ve worked with. Also I have a new Resumé which can be viewed here, in glorious black and white PDF form for your viewing pleasure.
And finally, just one quick note: HBO has given the premiere date for Veep‘s 3rd season. It starts on April 6th, 2014. That’s a little over 2 months until you get to see me stumbling around behind Julia Louis-Dreyfus. I’m not sure if I’ll be in the first episode or not, I’ll know once they release a plot summary for the impending episodes. But as soon as they do, I’ll make sure to post the date and time right here. So check back here soon for the date and time of my HBO “debut”.
New Year, New Show, New Site What-Have-Yous
Hey gang. It’s been a while since I’ve given this site a proper update. To be honest, I’ve been taking a minor sabbatical from the stage. But distance makes the heart grow fonder, and I’m happy to say I’m hitting 2014 running. First, I’m happy to announce that I’ve been cast into the newest play by local playwright Stephen Spotswood, whose past works include 2012 Captial Fringe’s Best Drama We Tiresias and last October’s In The Forest She Grew Fangs. The new play is called Morning, Miranda and will be presented by Doorway Arts Ensemble starting March 20th. For more details, check them out here or check out my Calendar here.
Secondly, if you’ll look to the right, you’ll notice that I no longer have my Facebook fan page synced up. Honestly, there’s no real point to it. Anyone who wants to know what’s going on in my life, they’re free to friend me on my personal page. It’s updated much more often. The link to it is on my Contact Me page here. However, if you again look to the right, you’ll see that I’ve synced up my Twitter account. Yes, I finally have a twitter account. I fought it for years, mainly on the basis that it’s the dumbest word in the history of speech. But if that’s what hip with the kids, Grandpa Adkins will crack this nut as well. Hope Operas, A Veep Appearance & Plenty Of Site Updates
Hello friends. Lately I’ve been slacking on this site for a bit. Things have been insanely busy but with so much new happenings, I figured it was time I let you all in on my life. First of all, many thanks to Jackie Walter, David Dieudonne and all of Silver Spring Stage for a fantastic run of The Navigator in their Annual One Act Festival. We put together an amazing show and Jackie and I even walked away with Acting Awards for our efforts. I always feel that if I’m not tired after a performance, I haven’t given it my all. And this show, even though it’s only 30 minutes long, left me exhausted every night.
Secondly, I’m proud to say I recently was invited to be a part of the Emmy-Award winning show Veep. Alright, fine, it’s only featured background. But I saw some of the playback and I’m fairly certain you’ll be seeing my handsome face alongside Julia Louis-Dreyfus for my television debut. Keep an eye out for me in the upcoming Season 3!
So what’s next? How about a triumphant return to The Hope Operas in a brand new Maurice Martin show called Chupy and the Science Twins? Premiering October 7th at the Comedy Spot in Ballston, I’ll be returning with Amy Kellet, John Tweel and director Sun King Davis of R.U.X. fame among other talented people to bring you a twisted take of Saturday morning cartoon mystery shows. The End Of Fringe & The Start Of A New Play!
After a fantastically fun month, the 2013 DC Summer Fringe Festival comes to a close. And with it, R.U.R. meets a fantastic end. Thank you so much to everyone who came out to see the original robot show. I had a fantastic time working with a brand new company, Naked Theatre Company, and was honored to be in their very first show. Hopefully this is only the start a great working relationship.
A special congratulations to all of the great productions I was able to see this year, especially the equally fantastic 43 and a 1/2: The Greatest Deaths of Shakespeare’s Tragedies and The Continuing Adventures Of John Blade, Super Spy. Nu Sass did an amazing job with the amount of fun to be had in Shakespeare deaths, and you could tell that the audience loved watching it nearly as much as the actors loved performing it. And the new company Live Action Theatre had an amazing debut with one of the funniest and most action-packed shows I’ve ever seen. One joke in particular combining self love and Tony Horton is maybe the funniest I’ve heard in any Fringe show (R.U.X. excluded, of course). Make sure to keep an eye on both of these companies as I’m sure more great things will be coming in the future. And of course an extra congrats to my friends at Grain of Sand for their Best Drama win with their show Tell-Tale. Even if R.U.R. didn’t walk away with the prize, I’m glad it went to a company that’s taking such rewarding chances and risks.
But enough talking about people that aren’t me. I pay the bandwidth for this site, and I have a new show to plug! On August 15th I will be opening a One Act Show with Silver Spring Stage as part of their annual One Act Festival. The Navigator is a new short play written by local playwright Brian Doyle. It’s a fantastically written piece about a man who has kidnapped a woman, murdered her husband, and set sail in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Pinteresque writing with a realistic setting, this is probably the deepest character work I’ve done in quite a while. I will be sharing the stage with my close friend Jackie Walter and, under the direction of David Dieudonne, I think we’re creating something very interesting. The Walking Fred Closes To Rave Reviews & We Look To The Near Future
Hello all.
Once again, we say a bitter-sweet goodbye to a fantastic show and experience. The Walking Fred and Saving Private Pooh closed last Friday to a fantastic crowd. Theater can be difficult, exhausting and frustrating. But only with the best of shows do you beg for just one more chance to brave it all again for another chance to bring it to an audience. And I certainly feel that with The Walking Fred and Saving Private Pooh. But the good news is we have some fantastic pictures, thanks to our photographer John Tweel. They are available here for your viewing pleasure. And as a special bonus we have a fantastic review and write-up for our Friday performance from DC Metro Theater Arts where I am considered to have a “mastery of vocal mimicry”. I don’t mean to toot my own horn, so I’ll let them do it for me here.
But we now look to the future. The immediate future, as a matter of fact. In only 11 days, I go back into the lab to build the robots. Presented by Naked Theatre Company, R.U.R. is priming up to be a runaway hit at this year’s Capital Summer Fringe Festival. And there’s even more theater happenings in the future. In August, I will be performing again with Silver Spring Stage in their One Act Festival. Directed by David Dieudonne and co-staring my close friend Jackie Walter, it’s a very intriguing 2 person piece called The Navigator. I am very excited to start digging into this play, and I’m even more excited to get it in front of a hungry crowd. 2 New Shows: Zombies & Robots!
Good news, all: I have some new projects coming up! After a bit of a respite, I will be performing in two new shows.
The first is with Landless Theater’s 3rd Annual Mashup Festival. I’ll be in two shows: The first is a combination of Winnie The Pooh and World War II films called Saving Private Pooh. The second, and the main event (at least for my stage time), is a combination of The Walking Dead and The Flintstones called The Walking Fred. Written by the fantastic Maurice Martin, who penned the award-winning R.U.X. from last year, I’ll be on stage as Fred Flintstone fighting off a zombies in the city of Bedrock. Rehearsals for both shows have already begun, and it’s going to be a great night of theater.
And speaking of R.U.X., the robots return this summer! As part of the DC Summer Fringe Festival, Naked Theatre Company will be mounting R.U.R.: The Grand-daddy of R.U.X.. Premiering in the 1920’s, R.U.R. was a huge leap forward in the world of science fiction and actually invented the word “Robot”. I’ll be joining them in bringing this benchmark in world drama to DC, and I can’t wait to get back into the lab.

A Long Overdue Update
Hello all. It’s been a while since I’ve been able to update the site. Sadly, life gets in the way sometimes. However, I’m proud to announce that I will be doing several staged readings this weekend for International SWAN Day. The event is being held at the National Museum of Women in the Arts. Admission is free, however there is a $10 admission price for the museum. But there’s plenty going on at the venue, so stick around and enjoy the fun! Click here for more info.
Also, just last month I was fortunate enough to work with the good people at Active Cultures Theater to be a part of their show .govaculture, part of the Intersections Festival at the Atlas Theater. It was a very fun experience with a great cast and crew, and I hope to work with the company again some time in the future. Click here for a few pictures from the show.

Updated Pictures And Videos!
After a few days of uploading, editing and configuring, there’s a brand new update for the site! I’ve added pictures from all of my 2012 shows, including Into The Woods: In Concert, Stop Kiss, Trespassing and both Fringe performances of R.U.X. Better late than never, right? They’re also uploaded into a new format, which is much more user friendly and just flat out nicer on the eyes. Check them out here.
